Reading Progress:

Chicago, IL — April 17, 2026  — When HAAS Alert opened its Detroit office at Newlab at Michigan Central in May 2024, the objective was to embed life-saving vehicle technology into the fabric of the Motor City. That commitment has now advanced through receipt of a $50,000 Scale Grant from the Detroit Startup Fund, an initiative led by Mary Sheffield and the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation.
‍
The fund is designed to move companies beyond early traction into sustained growth. While Seed Grants support early-stage ideas, the Scale Grant is reserved for companies that have proven market demand, have attracted outside capital, and can convert that momentum into jobs and measurable industry impact. HAAS Alert was one of three companies selected for the $50,000 award, reinforcing its position within Detroit’s connected safety and automotive ecosystem. Most importantly, it allows HAAS Alert to expand its work with local partners to keep first responders safe.

Protecting Detroit’s Finest

HAAS Alert considers Detroit a second home, and this funding is a major step toward broadening its footprint across a region where public infrastructure, OEMs, and vehicle technology are increasingly interdependent. Most importantly, it allows HAAS Alert to expand its work with local partners to keep first responders safe.
‍
Following a landmark citywide rollout completed in August 2025, HAAS Alert’s digital alerting technology is active across the Detroit Fire Department and the Detroit Police Department. Since launch, hundreds of thousands of digital alerts have been delivered directly to motorists’ dashboards and navigation systems, reducing collision risk for first responders operating in traffic.
‍
HAAS Alert is proud to be a recipient of this grant and recognizes the leadership of Mary Sheffield and the support of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation in advancing this work. The mission remains to ensure every first responder in Detroit and beyond returns home safely at the end of each day.
