CISCO, Texas — The Cisco Fire Department has a new way to warn residents when an emergency vehicle is nearby.

The fire department is now equipped with the HAAS Alert Safety Cloud.

When an emergency vehicle's lights and sirens are activated, the safety cloud automatically sends digital alerts to nearby drivers through their mobile apps.

Appear on in-dash systems for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles. The alerts will also appear through Waze and Apple Maps applications.

The department states that this advanced warning has been proven to reduce the likelihood of an accident by 90%.
