Carlow Fire and Rescue Becomes First Irish Fire Service to Equip Digital Alerting

Mar 12, 2025

HAAS Alert, a company with the largest commercially deployed V2X safety network powered by its Safety Cloud® digital alerting platform is pleased to announce that Carlow County Fire and Rescue Service has become the first fire and rescue service in Ireland to equip its fleet with digital alerting. This partnership is an exciting first step in exploring a long-lasting relationship together and expanding Safety Cloud’s coverage in Europe.

Carlow County Fire and Rescue Service first activated Safety Cloud through ACETECH, an Irish-based global supplier of software and vehicle solutions for the emergency services market, on their new fire truck assembled by High Precision Motor Products (HPMP). Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service is in the process of equipping eight other frontline vehicles with Safety Cloud.

“HPMP is pleased to become an official reseller and fitter of HAAS Alert’s HA-7 device, which allows public safety fleets to easily be equipped with Safety Cloud,” said Noel Howard, Director of HPMP. “We’re honoured to play a crucial role in improving safety on Irish roads.”

“HAAS Alert is thrilled to welcome Carlow Count Fire and Rescue Service to the Safety Cloud network,” added Gareth Evans, European Director of Strategy and Business Development of HAAS Alert. “We are discussing Digital Alerting with several emergency services and road safety organisations in Ireland, and having Carlow as the leading service is a great showcase of their approach to innovation and safety.”

Safety Cloud digital alerting enables real-time alerting between emergency vehicles and the motoring public for safer and smarter roads. HAAS Alert expanded Safety Cloud’s coverage to Europe in November of 2023, with more agencies and services continuing to join. Safety Cloud can be activated through an existing system integration, such as Acetech and other HAAS Alert partners, or a simple hardware installation.

"Protecting my crew and our community is a priority,” said Ben Woodhouse, A/Chief Fire Officer, Fire Services. “We’re excited to pave the way for road safety by being the first in Ireland to equip our emergency vehicles with a digital alerting system.  Our emergency drivers are highly trained in accordance with the Road Safety Authorities Emergency Service Driving Standard and will continue to use traditional alerting methods such as blue lights and sirens.  This innovative technology will provide further real time road user alerting to the presence of a fire appliance travelling to an incident or when a road user approaches an incident with a fire appliance at the scene.’’

"It’s fantastic to be partnering with HAAS Alert and supporting road safety in Ireland,” said Noel Howard, Director, HPMP. “We are not only bringing our Irish connection to digital alerting but also our expertise in the fitting and distribution across Ireland.”
