Wayne Township Fire Department Installs Safety Cloud

Sep 11, 2024

INDIANAPOLIS — The Wayne Township Fire Department has announced they will soon install an innovative alert system tied to their fire apparatus.

This HAAS Alert system, known as Safety Cloud®, lets drivers know when emergency vehicles are stopped on the roadway by contacting their mobile traffic app directly. In other words, drivers will get immediate, real-time alerts and notifications, sent at a maximum of 30 seconds before they encounter a fire vehicle stopped on the road at an emergency.

WTFD said the HAAS system will be active throughout the entire fire apparatus, which will enhance safety for both first responders and the community. It will also help drivers stay informed as they navigate the road, particularly in the midst of emergencies.

“The safety of our firefighters and the public is our top priority,” said Assistant Chief of Fire Department Operations Matthew Stewart. By implementing the HAAS Alert system, we are taking significant steps to improve situational awareness on the road
and protect everyone involved.”

For more information, check out the HAAS Alert system’s website. You can also get in touch with WTFD either at their site or by calling (317) 246-6200.
