Mid-County Fire Protection District Alerts Drivers of Emergency Vehicles

Nov 18, 2024

The Mid-County Fire Protection District (MCFPD) announced its newest emergency software on Nov. 15.

According to a press release, the Mid-County Fire acquired Safety Cloud® by HAAS Alert on Friday.

The technology will send digital alerts to vehicles in the area anytime a MCFPD vehicle activates its lights and sirens.

These emergency alerts will appear on dashboard screens in Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles. Alerts will also appear on Waze and Apple Maps mobile apps.

HAAS Alert Systems are meant to help reduce the chances of secondary car crashes in the area of other roadside incidents.

Emergency alerts along with emergency lights and sirens reportedly decrease the likelihood of these crashes by 90%.

MCFPD noted that the Safety Cloud has been implemented to help follow Missouri's "Move Over" laws and reduce crash risks.

Funding for the Fire Protection District's new software came from the Missouri Department of Transportation Safety Grant.
